Exhaust

When I bought my Eunos (June 2016), the exhaust system looked to be in good condition but the first track day revealed a few leaks.

Catalyst

Stainless steel catalyst replacement pipe My car has a stainless-steel catalyst replacement pipe installed. As the car is a 1990 imported Eunos Roadster and is registered as a Eunos (not an MX-5), this is legal in the UK and will pass an MOT without a catalyst. This is approximately 36cm long.

I do now also own a catalyst that could be swapped for the by-pass pipe if required.

Rear Section

Rear exhaust section removed This is the rear section of the Jasma exhaust that came on the car. It was in a bit of state but it does sound really good. I weighed it at 13.6Kg.
Jasma exhaust It's a Jasma exhaust with plate showing the year of manufacture and a serial number.
5zigen exhaust It has a 5zigen tail pipe.
Jasma exhaust repair This is the poor welding work that has been done on the small silencer tube and this blows air in many places.
Jasma exhaust holes The pipework has some obvious holes in it, which have clearly been patched up at some point.
Jasma exhaust crack On cleaning it up we also found this crack. This along with all the other issues, this means it needs replacing.

New Rear Section

MX5 Parts stainless steel exhaust September 2016 - We fitted a new single-exit stainless steel exhaust from MX5 Parts.

This was quite easy to fit with two people. The main issue we had was with the rubber exhaust hangers previously used on the car. These are too fat. They were all replaced with new ones of the correct size.
