Today we set about removing the front left shock absorber. I've written a guide on how to do this.
Front left shock absorber The front left shock absorber was in pretty good condition but the top mount had more rust than the rear ones. This is taken apart using spring compressors and all the parts are cleaned up and rust treated if need be.
Upper A-frame bolt The upper A-frame bolt was in good condition again. The left-hand side one is slightly harder to remove due to pipework for the air-conditioning unit being within the space in the chassis used to remove the bolt.
Top of shouck mount The top of the shock absorber top mount. This looks a lot worse than it is. The surface rust was easily removed to leave a nice clean surface. The rear shouck absorber mounts were in better condition and free from any rust.
Bottom of shock mount The underside of the shock absorber top mount. This part was cleaned up with a Dremel and a surface rust treament applied.
Front left spring This spring also had surface rust on it. It has also clearly be repainted in the past. The surface rust was removed and it has been painted with a flexible rust treatment.

Today we put the front left suspension back together. The shock absorber parts were rebuilt with the new rubber boot fitted.

Front left shock absorber fitted The front left shock absorber fitted back onto the car. In this photo you can see we have yet to put the upper A-arm bolt back in. Re-fitting this is fairly easy to do but getting enough room to fit a socket and torque wrench is challenging.
Front left shock absorber fitted These plastic 'washers' are fitted between the top of the shock absorber mount and the chassis. I've got no idea what purpose they serve.

Checking the car over Sunny day today, so we finished up by torqueing up the nuts and bolts and giving the car over, before going out for a test drive.

Woodbridge track day Popped along to the Woodbridge track day, to spectate. Need to replace the camshaft timing belt on Yoko before I risk another track day in her. Was a very wet day too! The hard top works well in weather like this :-) Plan to wire up the heated rear window though now. My car has no switch or wiring for this currently.

15th

We have now rented a lock-up garage, to provide some extra space to store the family's cars. This means we can free up some much needed space in our main garage.

19th

My Dad has swapped Yoko over with his Fisher Fury R1, which is now in the rented garage close by.

Spotted another coolant leak, which needs further investigation.

20th

Dry garage It's a lot easier to work on Yoko when she's in a nice dry garage :-) Took both the rear shock absorbers off (again), to get the (distorted) lower bushes replaced.

Front lip spoiler Got a lip spoiler for the Eunos today as a birthday present :-)
