Yoko passed her MOT today :-)

Suspension bush

Whilst investigating noises today, I noticed one of the suspension bushes is well worn. The plan is to remove the sub-frames and take all of the suspension apart to get it all powder coated and then we will fit new bushes, springs and dampers.

New pedal box

This is the 'new' pedal box that went in Yoko, from Retro & Modern Automotive Ltd (was Suffolk Mazda). I also cleaned it and painted it though.

Old and new pedal box

The brake switch was attached but the old relay needed to be swapped over.

Suspension bush

Removed the old pedal box unit (accelerator and brake pedal) because it had clearly cracked near the throttle pedal at one point and been very badly welded. It hadn't even been properly aligned before being welded back together.

Fitting the pedal box requires the steering column to be unbolted as it sits over one of the mounts. It's a bit of a pain to get decent access. We were a bit paranoid about disturbing the wiring under the dash as it's proven to be temperamental. The immobiliser has stopped working a few times in the past.

My Dad and I adjusted the stop to make sure the throttle pedal didn't try and go beyond 100% but we forgot to check the cable tension and this resulted in an afternoon full of anxiety! When we tried to start the car it immediately revved up to the limiter and we couldn't work out why initially. We had assumed we had done something to the wiring under the dash so my Dad started undoing the mess that had been created and tried to find the fault, whilst tidying it all up. The result was that we found a relay, an LED indicator and loads of odd wires that simply weren't doing anything.

It wasn't until later that afternoon that we realised the throttle was stuck at 25% open all the time :-( A quick adjustment of the cable and all was good :-)
