The insurance costs have fallen enough that I am now insured to drive Yoko all year round :-)
Yoko's refurbished calipers arrived in the post today back from Bigg Red Ltd. They look fantastic :-)
Fitted the calipers to Yoko today.
The rear ones wouldn't open wide enough to fit over the disk. You have to use the handbrake adjuster to move the caliper back in.
The adjuster is hidden behind a bolt cover.
Removing the cover reveals a hex bolt that can be used to adjust the handbrake.
Tried to undo the brake pipe fittings, to connect the new hoses but they were all seized up. Soaked them in PlusGas and will have another go tomorrow.
Tried shifting the brake pipe fitting again but they would not budge and I don't want to damage them, rendering Yoko undrivable. We are going to come back to this over winter. For now, we have reconnected the old hoses to the new calipers. At least I can drive Yoko this way.
Bled the brakes but they was still some air in the system. The pedal moves too far and I have little confidence in the brakes. It could be a combination of new pads as well but we will flush through the system with new brake fluid.
Bled the brakes through again and got a lot more air out of the pipework. Now have proper feeling back in the brakes and confidence in them again.
Drove up to Orford this afternoon.
